Blessed to be a Blessing: David Muhota
Retired Educator Kenya, Africa

Student San Jose Christian College Pastoral Studies Program

Ministry Intern Grace Baptist Church San Jose, CA

Mission Objective: To establish ministry to Kenyan children who have lost their parents to AIDS

God has revealed that this ministry is the best way for me to serve Him. These children should know the love of Jesus Christ. When they are out of the orphanage, they will be channels of furthering God's Kingdom through their testimony of God's love to the world.

David's spiritual journey started while he was studying to be a teacher at Kinjabe Teacher Training College in 1965. The college was run by Christian missionaries from the U.S. For a year David accompanied the school's principal as an interpreter when he visited local villages each week.

At the end of the year, the principal presented David with a Bible in his own tongue with this inscription: 'Presented to David Muhota for excellent work in interpreting 2 Timothy 3:16.' He received the Lord as Savior soon after.

David says: 'This has become a foundation of my faith and has helped me dig into His Word. I have come to believe that there is power. knowledge and the presence of God in the Scriptures.'

While David retired from teaching in 1994, he has been active serving in his local church for many years. He has preached, led Bible studies, done marriage counseling and chaired a number of local and branch church councils.

David says: 'I believe God brought me to this college with a purpose. I also believe that it is God who connected me with my brothers and sisters at Grace Baptist Church. God Himself led me to GBC-- I was not introduced by any one, but God led me there. I further believe that a sovereign God will handle this financial matter in His way, leading to the very best results.'
